Or, “I’d love to make a song for my spouse/kid/cousin/neighbor/stranger on the street.”?

If you have, you’ve come to the right place.

This all started during the depths of covid when we were all going stir crazy. At first, my brother and I made a song for my dad’s birthday and for my mom for mother’s day. Then, someone’s birthday or a friend or family member having a baby made me think - “well, we should write a song for them". 6 years later and there’s a whole bunch of ‘em and word started to spread and now you’re looking at this page on this website, maybe thinking about someone who could use a song. If you are, I’d love to talk to you about it!

Maybe you’ve got an epic voice memo of your child/friend/partner and you KNOW there’s a song in there - like this song

Maybe you or your sibling or your friend just had a baby and that baby really ought to have a song about them as soon as possible - like this song and this song

Maybe you just want to write a song about your friend for the hell of it because you love them and it would catch them off guard and you want to see their reaction - like this song.

How it works:

If you have someone in mind who you’d like me to make a song for, there’s a few options:

• If you want their voice put to music, you can send me a recording of them singing, or speaking. Please get consent from this person before you send it, or at least make sure they’re ok with their voice being a part of a song.

• Maybe you’ve made up a little rhyme about your daughter, or your dog, or your friend and you’d like that to be the basis of a song. We can make that happen (even 15 seconds of material is enough to work with).

• If you’d like me to make a song from scratch, I can do that too! In this case, we’ll talk about what you’re going for. We’ll talk about anything about that person that you’d like to include in the song as well as genre: Pop ballad, hair metal, big horn section. Song references are endlessly helpful ("like the chorus of ‘Living on a Prayer' but over a techno drum loop”. Or, “similar vibe to The Beatles’ ‘Help’ but if it was a Harry Styles song”).

We’ll schedule a video or phone call and talk about the timeline of getting the song done & getting a deposit settled. At that point, I’ll get to work and let you know how things are coming. The process will include one or two revisions based on song complexity and length so you an feel like you’re getting a solid piece of music.
